This book is a critical study of origin, development and importance of linga worship. It has been classified into eight chapters excluding comprehensive bibliography and index. First chapter focuses on introductory outline of origin and worship of Shiva linga. The linga and the face of Shiva has been described in the second chapter. Third chapter deals with Shiva and Shakti. The Linga as a combined form of Parasiva and Parasakti is described in fourth chapter. Fifth and sixth chapter focuses on transcendental and ontological importance of the linga worship. Amaresvara Lingam and the antiquity of Siva linga has been described in last two chapters of this book.
About the Author
N.K. Singh has specialised himself in oriental studies and has written a number of important books and also research papers published in national and international journals. He is the Director of International Centre for Religious Studies, Delhi and Chief Editor of Global Religious Vision—a quarterly Research Journal.
