About the Book

This book identifies multi-disciplinary characters such as to identify the drugs, its origin, morphology and microscopy to determine quality of drug, its chemical composition and therapeutic effects. It also develops methods of control to identify the plant products and to understand about the side effects and interaction of drugs. The first volume is committed to provide information about the sources, classification, morphology, cultivation, collection, storage, quality control, active constituents of drugs and its properties. The second volume emphasises the biodiversity of plants and encompasses biosynthesis, extraction, isolation of compounds in seven chapters. Chapters have been committed to provide information about resin, volatile oil, phytochemical screening, fibers, tannins, pharmaceutical aid and role of aromatic plants in economy. The third volume examines production and utilization of pharmaceutical glycosides and enzymes, phytoconstituents in medicinal plants, and Ayurvedic formulation of herbal pharmacopoea in six chapters. Each chapter is written with the aim to give a reasonable background to academicians and researchers in the respective topic. These volumes can be a solution for both degree and diploma students of various universities at different stages of their course and provide detailed information.

About the Authors

Rumit M. Shah, M.Pharm (Herbal Drug Technology, Pharmacognosy) and pursuing Ph.D., is working as an Assistant Professor in Vidyabharti Trust College of Pharmacy, Umrakh, Bardoli, Gujarat. His various papers have been published in reputed national and international research journals and has served as a valuable reviewer for many journals. Apart from academics, he has a good hand in industrial exposure as previously he was working in the pharmaceutical industries in quality assurance department. His area of interest is research in herbal drugs.

Rupesh T. Nayak,  M.Pharm (Pharmacognosy), is working as an Assistant professor in Vidyabharti Trust College of Pharmacy, Umrakh, Bardoli, Gujarat. He serves this job since last two and half years; previously he was working in the Pharmaceutical industries in marketing department. So he has good experience in both Academics and pharmaceutical marketing. He has also presented good number of research papers in national and international level of conferences.

Heena K. Kathad, M.Pharm (Herbal Drug Technology, Pharmacognosy), is working as an Assistant professor in Saraswati School of Pharmacy, Ranela, Gujarat. Previously, she was working in the pharmaceutical industries in quality control department. So she has good experience in both academics and pharmaceutical industries. She has published a number of papers in national and international journals.
