About the Book

The second edition is redesigned to serve the national interest as well as supporting materials for information scientists, administrators and professionals in eight chapters. Its main objective is to systematise and streamline the update techniques of recording the information so that we can cater to the needs of the intellectuals in a better way. The importance of the National Information System as a powerful national pace is now being recognised by the government, industry and education. It is the means of achieving national objectives through effective utilisation of information services in scientific and technological innovation, decision-making, research and education. A number of recent developments have emphasised in this edition to focus more attention on the planning and management of information system at the national level to share the nations’ wide resources and its development fulfil all information requirements of users at all levels. Authors have incorporated all valuable corrections and comments suggested by readers and scholars in this edition.

About the Authors

S.C. Joshi is a reputed information scientist and librarian who devoted twenty-two years of his service in various libraries in Maharashtra. Mr. Joshi did B.Lib. and M.Lib. from Poona University. He also presented papers in several seminars and conferences.

S.N. Mehta, a young information scientist, who assisted him in collection and compilation of this monumental work. He has done  B.Lib. and M.Lib. from Poona University, Pune. He has presented many research papers in national and international journal.
