Both are very comprehensive, with the strategy section presenting an in-depth and very well organized overview of leveraging knowledge in business, framework for knowledge management systems in business, implementation of KMS, discovering and data storage of knowledge, networking within a KMS environment, and organizational strategy in knowledge economy. However, the section on planning and applications KM makes the book truly stand out, presenting an exhaustive look at all the major applications knowledge in strategic planning, marketing, manufacturing, and human resource and offering a level of research that is rare in KM books.
About the Authors
Thomas Erickson is an interaction designer and researcher whose approach to systems design is shaped by work in sociology, rhetoric, architecture, and urban design. He has contributed to the design of a number of products and authored about 10 publications on topics ranging from personal electronic notebooks to pattern languages and virtual community. Originally trained as a cognitive psychologist at the University of California, San Diego, he spent five years at a startup company, nine years at Apple Research, and finally joined IBM in 1997 as a research staff member. His primary agenda is studying and designing systems that support network mediated group interaction.
Dr. Nisha Rana is an Associate Professor at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, University of Delhi. She completed her M.Phil and Ph.D. in the area of Organizational Behaviour and Development from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. She has approximately 21 years of experience in teaching and research in the specific areas of organization Behaviour, Organizatio Change and Human Resource Management for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Dr. Rana is awarded with the ‘Distinguish Teacher Award’ by Govt. of NCT of Delhi for the year 2013. She has organized a number of training workshops/seminars and conferences in the field of Management and women empowerment. Dr. Rana has conducted various sessions in UGC National workshops on role of Women in Academic Leadership in Higher Education as a resource person. Currently she is heading the Department of Management Studies in her college.
