Description

About the Book

The book explores the profound connection between Indian Knowledge Systems (Bhartiya Juana Parampara) and contemporary psychology, offering both conceptual frameworks and practical applications. It is divided into two sections. The first section delves into theoretical linkages, tracing mindfulness back to Indian traditions, examining yoga philosophy as a psychological framework, and uncovering inherent visualization techniques in Indian practices. It also bridges ancient Indian wisdom with modem psychological theories, such as the concept of Ahamkara (ego) in achieving happiness; and integrates Gita sermons into counselling practices. Topics like resilience, positive psychology, and holistic health are analysed through the lens of Indian philosophical thought. The second section focuses on practical applications, such as adapting cognitive-behavioural therapy for clients, integrating Indian knowledge systems into clinical interventions, and exploring the impact of meditation on well-being. It extends to diverse fields, including education, sports psychology, and sustainable development, with themes like mindfulness, emotional-cognitive balance, and the universal philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. This book is a valuable resource for scholars, practitioners, and educators interested in harmonizing ancient Indian wisdom with modem psychological practices to promote holistic well-being and sustainable living.
