About the Book

Environment is everything that is around us. All environments carry a set of meanings. A good, healthy and congenial environment is required for the human beings. Life circumstances include health, education, work, social relationships, natural and built-up environment, society, engagement, housing and work-life balance. Life and society are correlates and their relationships are extremely intimate and reciprocal. Life satisfaction is highly associated with good physical and mental health. Mental health is a level of psychological well-being or the absence of mental illness. Good mental health is an important resource for individuals, families, communities and nations. Health and well-being are fundamental human rights and world-wide social goals. It is a dire need to know that change is the part and parcel of life. Change encourages change depending on time and space. Changing human behaviour to save the environment is extremely important today. Concerted approach is required for maintaining good, healthy and congenial environment for all.

About the Authors

Dr. Swaha Bhattacharya, Professor, Department of Applied Psychology, University of Calcutta, awarded Gold Medal and Sir Gurudas Banerjee Book Prize from University of Calcutta. She awarded certificate of achievement for Advance Research and Training. Two books and many book chapters have been published. More than one hundred and fifty research articles have also been published in national and international journals. She delivered lectures as an invited speaker in many national and international conferences in India and abroad. She worked as a coordinator of many projects and training.

Dr. Debashree Sinha, Head of the Department of Psychology, Surendranath College, Kolkata, published many research articles and book chapters in national and international journals. She attended numerous national and international conferences and worked as a resource person. She also worked as a psychological counsellor in a project of University of Calcutta in collaboration with Texus University and Dominican University.

Miss Piyali Roy, Guest Lecturer, Department of Psychology, Maharani Kashiswari College, Kolkata. Many research articles have been published in national and international journals. She worked as a research assistant cum–counsellor in the Department of Psychiatry, Medical College, Kolkata.
