About the Book
Health is a dynamic and multi-disciplinary area where psyche of a person is a significant determinant of Health. In order to achieve a comprehensive understanding of Health Psychology, there is a need to build up a framework that gives due recognition to the cultural, social and economic contexts. The present Book ‘Health Psychology’ which may serve the above objective is a compilation of 35 articles. These articles have been classified in seven parts. In the first part, articles that focus upon the various theoretical perspectives of Health have been included. Articles dealing with positive Health behaviour has been put in second part. Third part highlights the issues relating to stress and anxiety. Concepts of Aging and Gender differences in regard to health are given in the 4th part of the book. Indigenous and Islamic traditions about health have been elaborated upon in 5th and 6th parts of the book, whereas the last part deals with the models for health promotion. The Editors hope that the theoretical input in the book will equip the students and researchers with basic concepts and constructs. Further the issues considered in the book would generate research interest in this area.
About the Editors
Rajbir Singh, presently working as Professor and Head, is the Senior Most faculty member of the Department of Psychology, M.D. University, Rohtak.
Amrita Yadava, presently working as Professor, Department of Psychology, M.D. University, Rohtak, has been actively associated with teaching and research for more than 24 years.
Nov Rattan Sharma, presently working as Reader in the Department of Psychology, M.D. University, Rohtak, is a committed teacher and versatile researcher with an experience of 22 years.
