In order to achieve the objective of a green environment, scientific communities across the world are engaged in finding techno-ecologically viable economic solutions to tackle the problems in various spheres… The books, websites, articles covering some or other aspects of ‘global warming’ along with electronic and print media providing newsflashes of happenings around the world have forced the leaders and politicians to move for positive actions. However there is a need to tell the whole truth of creation and prevention in compact format, which would assist intelligent readers in this area in his or her task to save the world from the disastrous consequences of global warming. An attempt has been made to produce the compact format in this edition, which is structured to address the queries of students, researchers and professionals engaged in different spheres of activities in their efforts to manage global warming.
About the Authors
Dr. R. Chattopadhyay, PhD (London), ex-head, R&D, L&T, Mumbai, in association with Eutectic (USA) and Castolin (Switzerland) has done pioneering work on conservation of resources and energy for all major industries in India. His two outstanding books published in USA (in 2001 and 2004) were appreciated by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the then President of India. He was conferred (2006) the title of honorary ‘Professor’ by Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, Venezuela.
Prof. Mandira Chatterjee, PhD, ex-vice-principal & associate professor in Mithibai College, now belongs to Post-graduate faculty in Geography, N. K. College, under Mumbai Unversity. Her publications include papers on urbanisation (1980) to environment and urban heat island (2009), and a book on environmental studies. She is a member of Bombay Geographical Association
