About the Book

The efforts in this edition have been aimed at articulating and systematising the definite conceptual core of management. Several factors have guided efforts to this end. First, emphasis has been put on contemporary development of this field of knowledge without neglecting older contributions that have proved their worth over the years. Second, emphasis has been put on those topics which are believed to be rich in their applications for managers and their organisations not only as guides to immediate actions but in their potentials for guiding the managers for actions in future. Third, the book also incorporates the latest management practices in Indian context so that the readers can appreciate how Indian organizations are applying various concepts developed in the field. Thus, it is expected not only to serve the purpose of the management students but also to be equally useful to practising managers, particularly those who have no formal education in management and who wish to update their knowledge in the field as learning is a continuous process.

About the Author

Dr. Noorjehan N. Ganihar is working in Karnatak University, Dharwad since 1986. Presently, she is a Professor and Chairperson, Post Graduate Department of Education, Karnatak University, Dharwad. She was former Dean, Faculty of Education and Former Syndicate Member, Karnatak University, Dharwad. She obtained her M.A., M.Ed., and Ph.D. degrees from Karnatak University, Dharwad. She has a P.G Diploma in Education from S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Bombay. She has a P.G. Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a P.G. Diploma in Higher Education from IGNOU. She was a “Second Rank” holder in her B.A course, “First Rank” holder in B.Ed., M.Ed. and P.G Diploma in Education Management. She is a “Gold Medalist” in the M.Ed course. She is a recipient of two “State Awards” in (1982) and (1983). She has received Life Time Achievement Award in Education from Health and Education Development Association, New Delhi in 2007. She has published a number of research articles in journals of national standard and repute. She is a member of several academic boards/ bodies besides holding honorary positions in NGOs.
