Female’s education, equality and empowerment is one of the crucial issues in South Asian countries to examine the assumptions under which policies, programmes and projects are formulated towards this goal. Education contributes directly to the growth of national income by improving the productive capacities of the labour force. This edition reviews the role of female’s education gender equality and economic empowerment in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Nepal into eight chapters. We hope this edition will be able to contribute the dissemination of the diversity of ideas on female education as well as providing a venue for critical reflection on female’s participation in labour market education, gender equality and economic empowerment in South Asia.
About the Authors
Dr. H.P. Chattopadhyay is a well-known scholar and teacher of political science who taught at several Colleges under Calcutta University, Kolkata. A keen researcher, Chattopadhyay has many books to his credit. His work Ethnic Composition and Crisis in South Asia is one of the widely acclaimed publications. In addition, he has published many research papers and articles in reputed national and international journals and presented papers in national and international seminars and conferences. Presently, he lives a retired life and devotes his time in editing and writing.
Dr. Sunil Chaudhary took his M.A. from Delhi University, Delhi, and Ph.D. in Welfare Policy from Patna University, Patna. Dr. Chaudhary is author of many research papers published in journals of national and international repute. He is an author of Welfare Policy and Social Development. His areas of research are social justice and welfare economy. Presently, he is associated with several newspapers and magazines as a freelance journalist.
