About the Book

In new edition author has reexamined the inter-relationship between the environmental security and sustainable development. In very first chapter, concept of environmental security is redefined in South Asian perspective. The second chapter examines regional approach on environmental issues however environmental planning and management has been examined in third chapter. The fourth chapter deals with Indian choices for Asian environmental security.  South Asian priorities and challenges of sustainable development is described in fifth chapter and sixth chapter give an analysis of sustained human security as priorities and practices of good governance. Trans-boundary resource management is examined in last. An attempt has been made to keep the book current, concise and readable.

About the Authors

S.M. Tripathi, former Professor of Economics, Agra University, Agra (UP), is an eminent scholar of environment economics. He has written several books and research papers of international repute on this subject. Presently, he is associated with several research institutes as a visiting professor.

Ravi Malhotra is research associate of Geophysics at Stanford University. He graduated from Punjabi University, Patiala in 1984 and received an M.S. (1988) in geophysics from Stanford. He has made contributions to several aspects of seismic imaging, ranging from velocity estimation to parallel algorithms for seismic migration. Since the early nineties he has been at the forefront of the development of wave-equation 3-D restack migration methods.
