About the Book
Counselling and family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps in reducing distress and interpersonal family conflicts through improvement in the interactions between the family members in a complementary approach. Family therapy is intended for addressing specific issues affecting the emotional health of the family members. This book comprises both theory and supervised practicum of counselling and family therapy in five chapters that deals with the concept, techniques, applications and skills involved in the process of counselling and families therapy. Further this book examines the professional approach to counsellor and therapist in counselling and therapy and ethical issues in the relationship between the client and the therapist. The last chapter focuses on Supervised Practicum for understanding coping with stress and analysing genograms of the person forms the very basis of the counselling and family therapy interventions. Hope this book will be helpful for counsellors/family therapists to have deeper knowledge about the client’s socio-psychological life dynamics.
About the Book
Yihunselam Asrat is an Assistant Professor in School of Pedagogical and Behavioural Sciences, in Arba Minch University, Ethiopia. He has done PhD in Social Psychology from Aligarh University, Aligarh. He presented many research papers in national and international seminars and conferences. He has publish more than 20 research papers in journals of international reputes. He has linkages with Canadian and American based Professors and taking part in an international cross cultural research representing Ethiopia. He is also working with John Hopkins University Center for Communication Program (Ethiopia) on how to apply Psychological knowledge for designing effective SBCC and using research for various health related issues. He was awarded with certificate of recognition for teaching excellence by Bahir Dar University in 2012.
