About the Book
This edition has re-examined the quality of chastity and modesty in their most general sense and without any attempt at precise differentiation. The psycho-socio-sexual value of chastity and modesty is designed in six chapters. First two chapters deal with the function and problem of chastity and other four chapters emphasise on the evolution, association, sanction and future of modesty. The importance of chastity and modesty in any vital human society has always been recognised by all the civilised society of the world. Sometimes chastity and modesty has been exalted in human estimation and sometimes it has been debased. It has frequently changed the nature of its manifestations; but it has always been there. This study excludes altogether the quality of virginity because this is a merely physical quality with no necessary ethical relationships.
