About the Book
Dr. Ambedkar’s political philosophy is a synthesis of idealism and realism, empiricism and rationalism, naturalism and humanism, materialism and spiritualism, individualism and socialism. His political idea is demonstrated into four chapters. The first chapter introduces Ambedkar’s concept of nation and nation building, his idea of citizenship, individual, society, state, and democracy. It also deals with the Indian federalism, linguistic states and partition of Pakistan. The second chapter focuses on his views on political institutions, particularly electoral democracy, social democracy, party system, and future of democracy. Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to safeguard political representation of depressed classes in the Constitution has been discussed in the third chapter. The fourth chapter focuses on the dynamics of persistent inequality of Scheduled Castes in Indian society. It also narrates the pattern of work participation and integration of Scheduled Castes with the emerging knowledge society in India. Hope this book will be helpful for students, teachers, researchers in general and Dalit political and social activists in particular.
