About the Book
In this author tracks the recent development of a big idea with fresh potency of civil society’s accountability, governance and legitimacy. He explores the contradictory forces currently nurturing or threatening its growth, and shows how talk of civil society implies a political vision of a less violent world, founded on legally sanctioned power-sharing arrangements among different and intermingling forms of socio-economic life. The main thrust of this study is conceptual development of Civil Society, social accountability and its link with good governance and societal legitimacy and political accountability in building of organizational accountability system.
About the Author
Dipali Saha, a dynamic scholar of sociology, was born in Maldah district and educated in North Bengal University (West Bengal). She was associated with several projects of ICSSR Kolkata and also worked as a lecturer in Ashutosh College in Kolkata. Presently she is devoted in social work and associated with NGO in Siliguri of North Bengal. She has written a number of important articles in News paper and journals of national and international repute. Her first published book is Civil Society and Modern Politics.
