About the Book

The sole objective of this edition is to focus on historical importance of early Islamic scriptures—the Qur’an and the Hadith. The Qur’an and the Hadith, as a historical source, has its peculiar qualities. It was revealed directly to the Prophet Muhammad who stood for the foundation and propagation of Islam and was during his life-time committed to writing as well. It was revealed to the Prophet during a long span of time, in Mecca as well as in Medina, and hence it contains references to almost all major developments in the early period of Islam.

About the Author

A.M. Khan is an eminent scholar of Muslim history and ethnography. He has Ph.D. from Calcutta University, Kolkata on Chakma Tribe of Bangladesh. He has published several research papers in journals of national and international repute. He also participated in National and international seminars and symposiums. He worked as a Professor of History in Rajashahi University, Bangladesh.
