Editorial
This edition of the Journal of Indian Health Psychology features seven articles covering various aspects of health psychology. The first article by Monika K. Shikari explores the impact of the mode of travel to school and age on children’s self-concept. Teena Benny, Shivani Vaze, and Gurpreet Kaur present a systematic review on the prevalence of behavioral problems among Indian adolescents. The next article by Preeti, Ashu Dhawa and Vatika, is a comprehensive review on positive impacts of mindfulness on mental health. This review explores the scientific evidence supporting mindfulness as a beneficial tool for mental health, its mechanisms of action, and its practical applications in daily life. In the next article, Naziya Wahid and Akbar Hussain assessed gender differences in the working memory and fluid intelligence. The next article is a systematic review conducted by Shivani Vaze, Teena Benny and Gurpreet Kaur on Internet Addiction in India. This review examines the prevalence, usage patterns, and contributing factors of internet addiction in India, shedding light on its implications for academic performance, mental health, and social relationships. The next article by Tamanna Grewal and Raj Ratan assessed Self-Compassion and Personality Traits in Low and High Homophobic Individuals. The last article in this issue, by Sahithi Mannar and NovRattan Sharma, is an exhaustive review conducted to explore the relationship between childhood sexual abuse and asexuality.
The journal serves a platform for empirical research, comprehensive critical reviews, and intervention-oriented articles in the field of health psychology, as well as for application in a wide range of contexts.
