About the Book
The 2nd edition of Pharmacognosy (Part-II) is the conclusion of abundant efforts of authors to assimilate the voluminous knowledge of traditional and modern pharmacognosy, which has long been required for curricula of various universities. Considering all this wide-ranging information of the subject, it is a deliberate to contribute substantially to the world of pharmacognosists. This edition emphasises the biodiversity of plants and encompasses biosynthesis, extraction, isolation of compounds.
The second part of this series is redesigned into seven chapters. Each chapter is written with the aim to give a reasonable background to academician and researchers in the respective topic. Chapters have been committed to provide information about resin, volatile oil, phytochemical screening, fibres, tannings, pharmaceutical aid and role of aromatic plants in economy. The objective of the authors is fully achieved by systemic gathering of the well written chapters with neat and clean well labelled diagrams wherever necessary.
About the Authors
Rumit M. Shah, M.Pharm (Herbal Drug Technology, Pharmacognosy) and pursuing Ph.D., is working as an Assistant Professor in Vidyabharti Trust College of Pharmacy, Umrakh, Bardoli, Gujarat. His various papers have been published in reputed national and international research journals and has served as a valuable reviewer for many journals. Apart from academics, he has a good hand in industrial exposure as previously he was working in the pharmaceutical industries in quality assurance department. His area of interest is research in herbal drugs.
Heena K. Kathad, M.Pharm (Herbal Drug Technology, Pharmacognosy), is working as an Assistant professor in Saraswati School of Pharmacy, Ranela, Gujarat. She serves this job since last two and half years; previously she was working in the pharmaceutical industries in quality control department. So she has good experience in both academics and pharmaceutical industries. She has published a number of papers in national and international journals.
