About the Book
As teachers, principals, heads of departments and planners and policy makers in education, one might be having this question in your mind – why worry about quality? It is not just because of the UGC directive that one should think of quality, rather quality should be a bottom-up approach and everyone should be conscious of why one should worry about quality of our teaching, programmes and institutions. Teacher education institutions that really understand themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, potentials and limitations are likely to be more successful in carrying out its educational mission than the ones without such self-awareness. So, for all the teachers working in teacher education institutions coming under most of the Universities, workshops or crash courses should be organized for improvement of their Quality Culture. This book may provide opportunities to learn new skills, methods and techniques to keep up with changes and new developments in their specialization.
About the Authors
Dr. Noorjehan N. Ganihar is working in Karnatak University, Dharwad since 1986. Presently, She is a Professor and Chairperson, Post Graduate Department of Education, Karnatak University, Dharwad. She was former Dean, Faculty of Education and Former Syndicate Member, Karnatak University, Dharwad. She obtained her M.A., M.Ed., and Ph.D. degrees from Karnatak University, Dharwad. She has a P.G Diploma in Education from S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Bombay. She has a P.G. Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a P.G. Diploma in Higher Education from IGNOU. She was a “Second Rank” holder in her B.A course, “First Rank” holder in B.Ed., M.Ed. and P.G Diploma in Education Management. She is a “Gold Medalist” in the M.Ed course. She is a recipient of two “State Awards” in (1982) and (1983). She has received Life Time Achievement Award in Education from Health and Education Development Association, New Delhi in 2007. She has published a number of research articles in journals of national standard and repute. She is a member of several academic boards/ bodies besides holding honorary positions in NGOs.
Dr. Vinayak K. Bhat has obtained his M.S.c., M.Ed., and Ph.D from Karnatak University, Dharwad. He is working as Assistant Professor in Kamala Baliga College of Education, Kumta. He was a “Second Rank” holder in his M.Ed course. His area of specialization is Educational Technology. He has published a book on “Total Quality Culture in Teacher Training Colleges” , Discovery Publications, New Delhi and also published one article on “Correlates of Total Quality Culture in Teacher Education Colleges”, Journal of Educational Faculty, Turkey. He has guided M.Ed., M.Phil Dissertations and Ph.D Thesis. He has attended many national seminars /conferences /workshops and presented papers in the same.
