About the Book

In this book we have presented eight Kathakali plays in English based on Hindu epics—the Ramayana: Ravanodbhava, Ravana Vijaya, Bali Vijaya, Sita Swayamvara, Bali Vadha, Torana Yudha, Pattabhisheka, and Lavanasura Vadha. The present book may help the reader to put the events of the Ramayana into their proper chronological order, and to identify the characters on the stage and get some idea of the plot, if he would see a performance of one of these plays.

About the Editor

N.K. Singh has specialised himself in oriental studies and wrote a number of books on religion and philosophy. His works especially on oriental studies initiated considerable interest on Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam, carrying high appreciation from scholars of Buddhist and Islamic countries. Presently, he is working as the Director of International Centre for Religious Studies, Delhi and Chief Editor of Global Religious Vision—a quarterly Research Journal.
