ABOUT THE BOOK
The book starts with the cherished civilizational links between India and South Africa. These were based on the ideals of democracy, constitutionalism, equality and sovereignty. It then goes on to discuss in detail the potential gains from a fruitful partnership with the African subcontinent. Establishing deeper economic, political and security ties will be of mutual benefit to all the countries. This assumes greater significance in a world fraught with internal divisions and rise of hyper-nationalist elements. With the major powers battling their own confusions, it becomes imperative for India to take charge and lead the way in global diplomacy. Focusing on talks with individual African nations can be a great step towards preserving the values of free trade, bilateral investments and partnership for common interest. That said, there as several challenges that the book talks about. The government needs to work towards overcoming these hurdles ad forging an effective partnership with South Africa.
