About the Book

The present edition of this book examines all the forces and factors dealing with climate and its overall effect on human and environmental conditions. For a clear and complete understanding of the phenomenon of climate, the book has been redesigned into four units that deal with the atmospheric composition, climatological processes, and climate across space, climatic change and impacts on urban climatology. The author has made particular focus on the investigation of the causes and effect of global warming. Quite significantly, the case study of the United States of America and the Republic of India with regard to global warming and corresponding changes in the policy of climate change in these two countries is the hallmark of this study. This edition has made very serious endeavour to have a systematic and scientific study of the entire gamut of climate with a particular focus on India.

About the Author

Ravi Malhotra is research associate of Geophysics at Stanford University, Stanford. He graduated from Punjabi University, Patiala in 1984 and received an M.S. (1988) in geophysics from Stanford. He has made contributions to several aspects of seismic imaging, ranging from velocity estimation to parallel algorithms for seismic migration. Since the early nineties he has been at the forefront of the development of wave-equation 3-D restack migration methods. He has contributed more than 20 research papers in national and international journals.
